Learn About Tile

Beloved around the world for its vivid colors, impressive variety, and amazing endurance, tile works wonderfully with just about any décor scheme, whether classical or contemporary. With literally endless possibilities, tile isn’t just flooring for kitchens or bathrooms (although, it’s still a wonderful choice for both!) Available in an endless variety of materials, patterns, colors, and sizes, tile is a stunning addition to just about any room. At Carpet One Floor & Home Commercial Flooring, we love tile for its ability to encourage creativity and customize spaces, while keeping out moisture. Here’s all you need to know about this artistic flooring option.

Types of Tile

There are many, many different types of tile, but the most commonly seen varieties are ceramic, porcelain, and stone. Ceramic is made using natural sources such as minerals and clay, ceramic tile is extremely strong, as well as easy to care for. Textured types of ceramic are especially effective in high-traffic areas, since they offer added traction. A subcategory of ceramic, porcelain tiles are fired at a higher temperature for a denser product. With that added density, porcelain tiles resist water and moisture. Therefore, it’s a great option for showers and baths.

Looking for a floor or backsplash that’s completely unique to your home? Stone tiles – like granite and marble- work wonderfully indoors and outdoors, and no two tiles are exactly the same.
